Monday 11/2/26: Colorado Eye Consultants & Protecting Colorado’s Heritage in support of YES on Amendment 83, Constitutional Right to Hunt & Fish & Your Health Matters with Dr. Shane Steadman at Integrated Health Systems

Today’s Guests:
After my very successful cataract surgery at Colorado Eye Consultants with Dr. Robert Fish, I decided we would introduce all of the Doctors at CEC, and let you know all of their specialties in eye care. Today we introduce Dr. Ameay Naravane who is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. He specializes in medical and surgical management of glaucoma, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), routine and complex cataract surgery, and advanced anterior segment procedures, including intraocular lens exchange or repositioning, secondary intraocular lens implantation, and iris repair. Dr. Naravane completed his undergraduate studies at Georgetown University, where he focused on Science, Technology, and International Affairs. He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota and completed his internship at Hennepin Healthcare. He then returned to the Chief Resident. Following residency, Dr. Naravane completed a fellowship in Glaucoma and Advanced Anterior Segment Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis. During his fellowship, he gained extensive experience in advanced glaucoma procedures (including trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage devices, and diode cyclophotocoagulation), MIGS techniques (such as goniotomy, GATT, Hydrus, iStent, and XEN Gel Stent), and complex anterior segment and cataract surgeries. Dr. Naravane is known for his compassionate, individualized approach to care. He partners with each patient to develop tailored treatment plans that integrate both time-tested methods and the latest innovations in ophthalmology. A committed educator, he takes the time to ensure his patients understand their diagnosis and options for care. Dr. Naravane is thrilled to call Colorado home and is passionate about delivering exceptional eye care to the Denver community.

Then Chris Rourke, Consultant with Coloradans Responsible for Wildlife Management joins us to talk about Amendment 83. Chris points out that she is not a hunter, yet realizes how vital Amendment 83 is for Colorado and its wildlife. Vote YES on 83! Supporting the Constitutional Right to Hunt & Fish. Amendment 83 (Formerly Initiative #302) – Constitutional Right to Hunt and Fish Requires 55% approval because it adds language to the state constitution. In our final half hour it’s Your Health Matters, on this episode of Your Health Matters, Functional Nutritionist Elizabeth Mahnke of Integrated Health Systems discusses GLP-1 injections and whether they have a place in a healthy weight-loss plan. These medications have received tremendous attention for their ability to reduce appetite, improve blood-sugar control and help certain individuals lose weight. Elizabeth explains that GLP-1 medications can be valuable tools for some people—particularly those struggling with obesity, insulin resistance or related health concerns—but they are not a magic solution and should be used under appropriate medical supervision. Listeners will learn the keys to getting the greatest benefit from GLP-1 therapy. Proper nutrition remains essential, even when appetite is reduced. Eating enough protein, choosing nutrient-dense foods, staying properly hydrated and maintaining healthy digestion can help protect muscle mass and support long-term success. Exercise is equally important. Strength training helps preserve lean muscle, while regular walking and cardiovascular activity support heart health, mobility and metabolism. Elizabeth also explains why people should develop sustainable habits while taking these medications rather than depending solely on the injection. GLP-1 medications may help open the door to better health, but lasting results still require commitment. The best outcomes come from combining medical guidance with proper nutrition, regular exercise and realistic lifestyle changes that can be maintained over time. It’s always a free initial consult call 303-781-5617 or visit their website at www.IntegratedHealthDenver.com.
