Today’s Guests:
After my very successful cataract surgery at Colorado Eye Consultants with Dr. Robert Fish, I decided we would introduce all of the Doctors at CEC, and let you know all of their specialties in eye care. Today we introduce Dr. Ameay Naravane who is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. He specializes in medical and surgical management of glaucoma, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), routine and complex cataract surgery, and advanced anterior segment procedures, including intraocular lens exchange or repositioning, secondary intraocular lens implantation, and iris repair. Dr. Naravane completed his undergraduate studies at Georgetown University, where he focused on Science, Technology, and International Affairs. He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota and completed his internship at Hennepin Healthcare. He then returned to the Chief Resident. Following residency, Dr. Naravane completed a fellowship in Glaucoma and Advanced Anterior Segment Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis. During his fellowship, he gained extensive experience in advanced glaucoma procedures (including trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage devices, and diode cyclophotocoagulation), MIGS techniques (such as goniotomy, GATT, Hydrus, iStent, and XEN Gel Stent), and complex anterior segment and cataract surgeries. Dr. Naravane is known for his compassionate, individualized approach to care. He partners with each patient to develop tailored treatment plans that integrate both time-tested methods and the latest innovations in ophthalmology. A committed educator, he takes the time to ensure his patients understand their diagnosis and options for care. Dr. Naravane is thrilled to call Colorado home and is passionate about delivering exceptional eye care to the Denver community.
Then it’s Dr. Melissa Fling, Owner of Custom Ear Solutions with an earnest plea to our listeners, “please get a hearing test”! To have a baseline is so important in your overall hearing health. Protecting the hearing you have is the mission of Custom Ear Solutions!
On Your Health Matters, Dr. Perry Maynard explains how chiropractic neurology focuses on the brain and nervous system rather than just joints and muscles. This specialty blends modern neuroscience with functional rehabilitation to improve how the brain communicates with the body. The goal is to enhance movement, balance, pain control, and overall performance by retraining neurological pathways.
A chiropractic neurologist evaluates brain function, nerve signaling, reflexes, eye movement, motor control, and sensory processing to identify areas where neural circuits may be underactive or overstressed. Instead of only adjusting the spine, treatment targets brain plasticity the brain’s ability to rewire and heal.
Patients often seek this approach for concussion recovery, dizziness, migraines, chronic pain, balance disorders, post-stroke rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury, and even cognitive or sports performance support. It’s especially helpful for people whose scans appear normal but who still experience persistent symptoms.
Treatment is non-invasive and customized, often including eye exercises, balance training, vestibular therapy, gentle stimulation, motor retraining, and cognitive drills. Dr. Maynard emphasizes that chiropractic neurology is about restoring brain-body communication, helping patients function better, move better, and ultimately live healthier lives.
