Friday 10/24/25: Water Talk with Paul the Waterman

Today’s Guests:
On this episode of Water Talk, host Scott Whatley and Paul “the Waterman” Dowding, owner of Water Pro’s, and Water Treatment Specialist Mark Whitlach tackle one of the nation’s most alarming environmental threats — PFAS, or “forever chemicals.” These man-made compounds, found in products like non-stick pans, waterproof fabrics, and food wrappers, never break down and accumulate in the environment and human body. Paul explains that nearly 70 million acres of U.S. farmland may be contaminated due to the use of biosolids — wastewater sludge repurposed as fertilizer — which often contains PFAS. This toxic cycle allows PFAS to infiltrate soil, crops, livestock, and ultimately our food and water supply. Our conversation highlights that while the EPA regulates metals and pathogens, it does not regulate PFAS in biosolids or food, leaving a major policy gap. The health impacts are severe: cancer, immune suppression, liver damage, thyroid and reproductive issues. He urges listeners to test their water, install reverse osmosis or carbon filtration systems, and buy organic foods to minimize exposure. Finally, Paul calls on the public to pressure local and federal leaders to ban PFAS-contaminated sludge and demand transparency. The episode closes with Water Pro’s mission: “Cleaner Water, Healthier Home.” Call Water Pro’s today for your free in home water test 303-862-5554.
