Today’s Guests:
On this episode of Water Talk, Paul Dowding, Owner of Water Pro’s warned listeners about a chemical many people assume is gone but is still showing up in water supplies: Triclosan. Triclosan is an antibacterial agent that was widely used for years in soaps, toothpaste, and household products. It was banned from consumer hand soaps by the FDA because studies showed it offered no added health benefit over regular soap and water, while raising serious safety concerns. Paul explained that even though triclosan was removed from many store shelves, it didn’t disappear from the environment. It continues to enter waterways through wastewater systems and can remain in drinking water in trace amounts. One of the biggest concerns is its link to antibiotic resistance. Overexposure to antibacterial chemicals like triclosan can encourage bacteria to adapt and become harder to treat, weakening the effectiveness of real medical antibiotics.
The good news, Paul says, is that homeowners can take action. Advanced home water filtration especially high-quality reverse osmosis systems can significantly reduce contaminants like triclosan and other emerging pollutants. Water Pro’s offers free in-home water testing to help families understand what’s in their water and how to protect their health. Call Water Pro’s today for your free in home water test 303-862-5554.
