Then it’s former US Congressman and 2026 Gubernatorial Candidate Greg Lopez. Greg has sent a “Wolf Cease-and-desist request letter” to USFWS Director Matt Hogan. Greg explains that CPW (Colorado Parks & Wildlife) is simply an Agent. There is a Memorandum of Agreement” with the US Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS). USFWS retains full authority over the Endangered Species Act (ESA) which allows the cease-and-desist order to be issued. The inability of CPW to properly manage the conflicts arising from the NEP re-introduction efforts is due to rapid pace which CPW outlined in its management plan and justifies the need for the cease-and-desist order. Greg says the request is simply a 1 year halt the wolf introduction program until CPW can get many of the problems corrected.
