The conversation also covers thyroid nodules, what they are, when they should be monitored, and when further evaluation is necessary. Most importantly, Dr. Steadman emphasizes that thyroid conditions can be properly diagnosed and successfully managed with a comprehensive, patient-focused approach. Friday 1/23/26: Water Talk with Paul the Waterman

Today’s Guests:
On this episode of Water Talk, Paul Dowding, Owner of Water Pro’s and Mark Whitlock discuss how a municipal water system deals with bacteria and viruses. The EPA has a laundry list of unregulated contaminants that are in our water. Are they harmful? Why are these contaminants not being tested? Paul the Waterman, owner of Water Pro’s, explains why clean, great-tasting water is no longer something homeowners should assume they have. Paul discusses growing concerns found in today’s water supplies, including PFAS “forever chemicals,” microplastics, prescription drugs, and hormones—contaminants that traditional treatment systems were never designed to remove. He emphasizes that his goal is education, not sales, helping families understand what’s in their water and how it may affect long-term health. Paul encourages homeowners to start with a free, in-home water test to make informed decisions about protecting their water and their health. Free in home water test call 303-862-5554.

Today’s Guests:
On this episode of Legal Talk, host Scott Whatley sat down with Kevin Flesch of Flesch Law to walk listeners through the full process of defending a criminal case, explaining what really happens from the moment someone becomes involved with law enforcement through final resolution. Kevin emphasizes that a criminal case often begins long before an arrest, sometimes during an investigation or after a citation, and warns that speaking to police without an attorney can seriously harm a person’s defense. He explains the importance of the first court appearance, including bond conditions and how early decisions can impact the entire case. Kevin then breaks down the discovery phase, where police reports, body-camera footage, witness statements, and lab results are reviewed, noting that many cases change dramatically once evidence is closely examined. The discussion continues with pre-trial motions, negotiations, and the strategic decision between accepting a plea or going to trial. Kevin stresses that trial decisions should be based on evidence and risk—not emotion. Finally, he covers possible outcomes, sentencing, and the long-term consequences a criminal case can have on employment, housing, and reputation. His key message: a charge is not a conviction, and having experienced legal representation early can protect both rights and future opportunities. Today’s Guests:
On this episode of The Your Money Matters Radio Show, Kurt Rogers, Managing Broker at Affordable Interest Mortgage is with us to explain why debt consolidation can make sense even for homeowners with low first-mortgage rates. Kurt challenges the idea of focusing only on rate and instead encourages homeowners to look at their blended rate—the combined interest rate paid across mortgage, auto loans, and high-interest credit cards. Using real-world examples, he shows how rolling expensive consumer debt into a mortgage can significantly reduce monthly payments, eliminate high-interest debt, and save hundreds of thousands of dollars in interest over time. By applying part of the monthly savings back toward the mortgage, homeowners can pay off their home 6–7 years faster while still putting tens of thousands of dollars back in their pocket. Kurt also addresses common concerns about increasing mortgage balances, closing costs, APR, and why working with an independent mortgage broker often provides more flexibility, transparency, and savings than traditional banks. In our last half hour, it’s Your Health Matters with Dr. Perry Maynard. In this interview, Dr. Perry Maynard of Integrated Health Systems explains what many patients are never told about hypothyroidism—that the most common cause is not a nutrient deficiency, but an autoimmune condition called Hashimoto’s disease. Hashimoto’s accounts for roughly 90% of hypothyroid cases in the U.S. and occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid, disrupting hormone production. This can lead to classic hypothyroid symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, dry skin, and hair loss, but may also cause hyperthyroid symptoms like anxiety, insomnia, heart palpitations, and unexplained weight loss. Many patients experience frustrating swings between the two. Dr. Maynard emphasizes that relying solely on TSH testing often provides an incomplete picture. Proper evaluation should include a full thyroid panel, antibody testing, vitamin D levels, adrenal stress assessment, and screening for gluten sensitivity or celiac disease. Because Hashimoto’s is driven by immune dysfunction, treatment should focus on identifying root causes such as chronic stress, blood sugar imbalance, inflammation, toxin exposure, or poor liver detoxification. Through targeted nutrition, stress reduction, detox support, and personalized care, patients can reduce symptoms and improve thyroid health long-term by addressing the underlying immune imbalance—not just managing numbers on a lab report. It’s always a free initial consultation call 303-781-5617. Visit their website at www.IntegratedHealthDenver.com.

Thursday 1/15/26: Legal Talk with Attorney Kevin Flesch & Your Legacy Your Way with Carolyn Duncan of Duncan Legal

Today’s Guests:
On this episode of Legal Talk, host Scott Whatley sat down with Kevin Flesch of Flesch Law to break down a timely and often misunderstood issue: the civil right to protest versus the lawful use of force by police. Kevin explained that the First Amendment protects peaceful protest, speech, and assembly—but those rights are not unlimited. He clarified how time, place, and manner restrictions, permit requirements, and public versus private property rules can all affect whether a protest remains lawful. The discussion also addressed when police may legally intervene, including the use of dispersal orders, curfews, and emergency powers, and why failing to comply with lawful commands can quickly escalate a situation. The conversation then turned to what the law allows regarding police use of force, focusing on the legal standard of “reasonableness,” the use-of-force continuum, and how courts evaluate incidents after the fact. Kevin emphasized that video footage, while helpful, rarely tells the full legal story. The episode concluded with practical advice for citizens—what to say, what not to say, and why knowing both your rights and responsibilities is critical to protecting yourself legally. Attorney Kevin Flesch of Flesch Law has over 30 years of experience in Denver and throughout the State of Colorado. Kevin Flesch and their attorneys represent personal injury victims and people accused of criminal acts throughout the Denver area. It’s always a free consultation at Flesch Law. Carolyn emphasized that having an updated will or trust is crucial, especially after major life changes like marriage, divorce, or moving. She explained the key differences between wills and trusts, including how trusts can help families avoid probate and maintain privacy. The discussion also highlighted the importance of carefully choosing decision-makers such as executors, trustees, and powers of attorney. Carolyn stressed that estate planning isn’t just about death—it’s also about planning for incapacity with proper legal documents in place. She warned listeners to regularly review beneficiary designations, which often override wills and trusts. The conversation wrapped up with insights on taxes, Medicaid, long-term care planning, and the importance of communicating your plan to loved ones to avoid confusion and conflict. Then it’s Medicare & More with Jim Garey, Owner of Silver Sherpa Inc. Today we focused on the “MORE” in Medicare & More to expand upon last week’s show discussion, LONG TERM CARE & LIFE INSURANCE. Jim Garey of Silver Sherpa Inc. emphasizes that long-term care (LTC) is one of the most overlooked yet costly risks in retirement. He explains that Medicare does not cover most LTC needs, such as extended stays in nursing homes, assisted living, or in-home custodial care, leaving families financially vulnerable. With average LTC costs running $7,000–$15,000 per month, savings can be depleted quickly. Jim discusses modern life insurance policies that include LTC riders, allowing policyholders to draw from death benefits to pay for care, while still leaving something behind for heirs. He also highlights the role of annuities in providing guaranteed income to offset ongoing care expenses. Together, these strategies help protect assets, provide flexibility in how care is delivered, and give families peace of mind. Jim encourages planning early, since health and age determine affordability and eligibility for LTC coverage.
