Friday 5/29/26: Water Talk with Paul the Waterman

Today’s Guests:
On this episode of Water Talk, Paul “The Waterman” Dowding, Owner of Water Pros discussed one of the most overlooked concerns in modern drinking water — Disinfectant Byproducts, commonly known as DBPs. While disinfectants like chlorine and chloramine play a critical role in protecting public health by eliminating dangerous bacteria and diseases such as cholera and typhoid, the conversation focused on the unintended chemical risks that can occur after the disinfection process.

DBPs are created when disinfectants react with organic matter in water supplies, including decaying vegetation, algae, and even remnants of wastewater. Two of the most common and heavily studied DBPs are Trihalomethanes (THMs) and Haloacetic Acids (HAAs), both regulated by the EPA. Research has linked long-term exposure to elevated levels of these compounds with an increased risk of bladder cancer, with possible associations to colon, rectal, and kidney cancers as well.

Paul emphasized that exposure goes beyond simply drinking tap water. DBPs can also enter the body through inhalation of steam during showers and baths, as well as through skin absorption. The discussion also explored how drought conditions, recycled water sources, aging infrastructure, and higher organic loads — all challenges impacting Colorado and many Western states — can potentially increase DBP formation.

A key takeaway from the show was that consumers may not always know when DBPs are present because they are not always visible, smellable, or easily tasted. Paul explained that solutions such as activated carbon filtration, whole-house systems, and reverse osmosis can help reduce exposure. As he noted during the interview, “You may not control what comes into the municipal system, but you can control what enters your home.” The conversation ultimately reinforced the importance of understanding both the benefits and potential risks associated with modern water treatment.

As always, the goal of Water Talk is education—not fear—helping listeners make informed decisions about cleaner, healthier water for their homes and families. Call Water Pro’s today for your free (no obligation) water test 303-862-5554.

Thursday 5/28/26: Legal Talk with Attorney Kevin Flesch & Your Legacy Your Way with Carolyn Duncan of Duncan Legal

Today’s Guests:
Attorney Kevin Flesch of Flesch Law and Host Scott Whatley talk about choosing the right personal injury attorney and how it can make a significant difference in the outcome of your case. On this edition of Legal Talk, host Scott Whatley visits with Kevin Flesch of Flesch Law to break down what every listener should know before hiring legal representation. Not all attorneys are the same—some firms focus on quick settlements, while others prepare every case as if it’s going to trial. That distinction alone can impact how insurance companies respond and how much compensation you may ultimately receive. The conversation highlights key questions to ask during a consultation, including who will actually handle your case, how communication will be managed, and what strategy will be used. Kevin explains the importance of understanding contingency fees, as well as the difference between attorney fees and case costs. He also stresses the value of hiring someone with local Colorado experience who understands the courts, judges, and legal process. Listeners are encouraged to watch for red flags such as poor communication, unrealistic promises, or pressure to settle too quickly. The bottom line: take your time, ask the right questions, and choose an attorney who will truly advocate for you every step of the way. Kevin Flesch and their attorneys represent personal injury victims and people accused of criminal acts throughout the Denver area. It’s always a free consultation at Flesch Law. Call Kevin today at 303-806-8886 or visit the website at www.fleschlawfirm.com. Got a legal question? You can now TEXT the Flesch Law Line 24/7 with your legal question: 720-201-8585.

Then it’s Your Legacy Your Way, with Estate Planning Attorney Carolyn Duncan of Duncan Legal. Today we discuss a common misconception—that estate planning is only for older or wealthy individuals. The truth is, planning early is one of the smartest financial and personal decisions young adults can make. Carolyn explains that estate planning isn’t just about distributing wealth—it’s about control and protection. Even in your 20s or 30s, having key documents like a will, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives ensures your wishes are honored if something unexpected happens. Without these in place, families can face unnecessary stress, legal complications, and court involvement during already difficult times. The conversation also highlights real-life scenarios where young adults benefit from planning—whether it’s protecting minor children, outlining medical decisions, or managing digital and financial assets. Life changes such as marriage, homeownership, or starting a family make having a plan even more critical. The key takeaway: estate planning isn’t about age—it’s about being prepared. Starting early provides peace of mind and builds a strong foundation that can grow and adapt with you over time. Carolyn says her motto is “Helping People Solves Life’s Puzzles.” Visit www.DuncanLegal.com and get your free Guide Estate Planning Basics”. Free half-hour consult call 303-394-2358.

Friday 5/22/26: Water Talk with Paul the Waterman

Today’s Guests:
On this episode of Water Talk, Paul “The Waterman” Dowding, Owner of Water Pros focused on growing concerns surrounding unregulated contaminants found in drinking water and what consumers should know to better protect their families. The discussion highlighted how many potentially harmful substances—including PFAS “forever chemicals,” microplastics, pharmaceuticals, hormones, and other emerging contaminants—may still be present in water supplies even though they are not fully regulated under current federal standards.

The program explored recent EPA research into pharmaceuticals in drinking water and how trace amounts of medications can make their way through wastewater systems and into source water supplies. While these contaminants may exist in extremely small concentrations, scientists continue to study the long-term effects of chronic exposure over decades. The conversation also addressed bioaccumulation, the process where chemicals can gradually build up in the body over time.

Paul emphasized that consumers should not panic, but they should become informed about what is in their water and understand the limitations of traditional municipal treatment systems. The show also explained practical solutions homeowners can consider, including advanced filtration technologies such as reverse osmosis systems, activated carbon filtration, and whole-home water treatment options.

As always, the goal of Water Talk is education—not fear—helping listeners make informed decisions about cleaner, healthier water for their homes and families. Call Water Pro’s today for your free (no obligation) water test 303-862-5554.

Thursday 5/21/26: Legal Talk with Attorney Kevin Flesch & Your Legacy Your Way with Carolyn Duncan of Duncan Legal

Today’s Guests:
On this 5/21/26 episode of the Legal Talk Radio Show on KLZ560AM, host Scott Whatley sat down with Attorney Kevin Flesch of Flesch Law Denver Injury Accident Lawyers, to break down one of the most misunderstood parts of a DUI case — what actually happens after an arrest and the critical timelines that can dramatically impact your future. Many people believe the process simply starts with a court date, but in Colorado, important deadlines begin immediately, including the often-overlooked 7-day window to request a DMV Express Consent Hearing. Missing that deadline can lead to an automatic driver’s license suspension, regardless of what happens in criminal court.

Kevin explains the difference between blood and breath tests, what happens if someone refuses testing, and why DUI cases often involve two separate battles — one with the DMV and another in criminal court. Listeners will also learn what to expect during arraignments, pre-trial conferences, motions hearings, and possible trial timelines, which can stretch several months or longer.

The discussion also highlights how an experienced DUI defense attorney evaluates the details of an arrest, including whether the traffic stop was lawful, if field sobriety tests were administered correctly, and whether breath or blood testing procedures were properly followed. Kevin emphasizes why taking immediate action after a DUI arrest is so important, especially since evidence can disappear quickly and witness memories fade.

This informative episode gives listeners a practical roadmap of the DUI process and explains why early legal guidance can make a significant difference in protecting both driving privileges and legal rights.

Attorney Kevin Flesch of Flesch Law has over 30 years of experience in Denver and throughout the State of Colorado. Kevin Flesch and their attorneys represent personal injury victims and people accused of criminal acts throughout the Denver area. It’s always a free consultation at Flesch Law. Today we discuss more about contesting a Will. As we said last week any Estate Plan can be contested by anyone who is involved in the Will.
